How to add a chat widget to WordPress in two minutes
Agentric Team ·
The Agentric widget is a single script tag — if you can paste code, you can install it. Here's where it goes on the platforms most small businesses actually use.
The snippet
From Dashboard → Setup → Widget, it looks like:
``html <script src="https://agentric.agency/widget.js" data-tenant="your-slug" async></script> ``
Paste it just before </body> and the chat bubble appears bottom-right on every page.
WordPress (the common case)
Option A — theme footer: Appearance → Theme File Editor → footer.php → paste before </body>. Works but gets wiped by theme updates.
Option B — a plugin (recommended): "Insert Headers and Footers" / WPCode → paste into the footer box → save. Survives updates, takes 90 seconds.
Option C — block themes (WP 5.9+): Appearance → Editor → add a Custom HTML block in the footer template part.
Squarespace
Settings → Advanced → Code Injection → paste into the Footer box → Save. Done — that's the whole job.
Wix
Settings → Custom Code → Add Code → paste the snippet → set it to load on all pages, in the Body — end position.
Plain HTML site
Find </body> in your template/footer include → paste above it → upload.
Shopify / other builders
Same story: every platform has either a "custom code"/"code injection" setting or an editable theme file with a </body> tag. Paste above it.
Verifying it works
- Load the site in a private/incognito window (bypass caching).
- The bubble appears bottom-right in your brand colour.
- Open it — the greeting names your business, disclosure included.
- Ask a test question — watch it appear as a conversation in the dashboard.
If it doesn't appear
- Check the slug in
data-tenantmatches your tenant slug. - Check for script blockers (ad blockers occasionally catch widget scripts — test in a clean browser).
- Hard-refresh (Cmd+Shift+R) to bust cached HTML.
Two minutes of paste-and-save adds a 24/7 receptionist to every page of your site.
