How to connect Google Calendar to your AI receptionist
Agentric Team ·
The Google Calendar connection is what turns your assistant from a message-taker into a booker. Setup is three clicks — here's what happens and why it's safe.
The 60-second version
Dashboard → Settings → Integrations → Connect Google Calendar → approve in Google's popup → done. Status flips to Connected and your real calendar now drives availability.
What the connection actually does
Reads busy time. When a caller asks for "Thursday afternoon", the assistant checks your real calendar — that dentist appointment blocks 2–4pm whether you put it in Agentric or not. No double-bookings, ever.
Writes bookings. Confirmed appointments appear in your calendar with the customer's name, service, contact details and notes — same as if you'd typed them.
Scoped access. OAuth grants only calendar access — no email, no Drive, nothing else. You can see and revoke it anytime at myaccount.google.com/permissions.
What counts as "busy"
Anything on the connected calendar blocks the slot — jobs, personal events, all-day entries. If you'd rather keep some events non-blocking, use a separate work calendar for availability (Google lets you choose which calendar we read/write in Settings).
If you don't use Google Calendar
Two paths:
- Booking requests — the assistant takes preferred times and details; you confirm from the dashboard. Works fine, just adds your approval step.
- Agentric-only bookings — availability respects your hours + Agentric bookings. Fine if Agentric is your only booking source; risk is it can't see diary entries you keep elsewhere.
Disconnecting
Settings → Integrations → Disconnect. The assistant instantly falls back to booking-request mode — nothing breaks, nothing is lost. Reconnect anytime.
The one best practice
Keep your Google Calendar honest — put personal blocks in it too (school pickup, gym, lunch). The assistant treats busy as busy; the richer the diary, the smarter the bookings.
